Update and Board Meeting Reminder

Sept. 22, 2020

Dear Oceanside Community,

As you may be aware, the State of California is following a new reopening framework that provides a tiered COVID-19 risk monitoring system designated by four colors: purple (widespread risk), red (substantial risk), orange (moderate risk) and yellow (minimal risk with the lowest restrictions). You may also know that due to a recent rise in case rates throughout San Diego County, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) was anticipated to elevate San Diego back into Purple Tier 1. However, as a county, San Diego currently remains in the “red” tier. Oceanside has the fifth-highest case count in San Diego County out of more than 40 cities and unincorporated areas currently being monitored. We will continue to monitor these case rates in our city.

We would like to remind everyone that we will be hosting a virtual special board of education meeting on September 29, 2020 at 6:00 P.M. During the meeting we will discuss our plans and timelines for our return to in-person instruction for all grade levels. Please join us if you can. If you are not able to attend the meeting, we will send a communication out following the meeting to recap meeting highlights and board decisions.

We have also launched a Safely Reopening OUSD webpage with resources, communications, our Return to Virtual Learning and In-Person Instruction Guide, Commonly Asked Questions, and more. The website and commonly asked questions will also be updated following the Sept. 29 board meeting.

Thank you for your patience during this time. As always, you can stay up to date by following district and school social media, district and school websites, checking email, and by visiting oside.us/fall2020.
