Educational Support Services


Educational Services provides leadership in the areas of curriculum development, instructional service, special education, student services, assessing student achievement, and adult education.

These duties include:

  • Coordinating curriculum and staff development
  • Implementing, evaluating, revising and reporting the status of instructional programs (including textbooks and instructional materials)
  • Serving as a liaison to local, state, and federal agencies

Educational Services works collaboratively with teachers, support staff, school and district administrators and the community to promote student learning in support of district goals.  We are committed to increasing the learning capacity of parents, teachers and staff, and school leaders by providing coaching and professional development opportunities. 

About our Associate Superintendent

Mercedes Lovie, Ed.D. is the Associate Superintendent of Oceanside Unified School District, serving over 17,500 students. Dr. Lovie started her educational career as a teacher in a culturally and linguistically diverse school district in California. 

As an educator, she has served as:

  • Curriculum Specialist
  • Central Office Administrator
  • Professional Coach
  • County Office Leader, and 
  • 11 years as a Principal at both the elementary and secondary levels. 

She serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California (USC) in the educational leadership program. Dr. Lovie has focused on equity and inclusive instructional practices throughout her career. This led to designing a district-wide inclusive American History curriculum for all students and professional development for educators funded by $2M in Federal competitive grants. 

Dr. Lovie holds a master's degree in curriculum and instruction. She earned her doctorate at USC with a research focus on improving organizational outcomes through data-driven actions, implementation of effective organizational systems, and equitable practices.
