Six Step District Process For Confirmed Positive Case

OUSD will follow a six step process when a positive case is confirmed. District administration has received training and is prepared to follow this process and communicate as appropriate with the community should we have a positive case.

1. Notify district administrator and local public health department

2. Isolate the positive case and ensure the individual remains off campus for 10 days from symptom onset or C-19 test date

3. Identify/notify "close contacts" and quarantine those contacts for 14 days after the last date the case was present at school while infectious

4. Encourage testing of contacts, prioritize symptomatic contacts

5. Close and disinfect classroom or workspace and primary spaces where case spent siginificant time

6. Work with district administrators and communications office to notify the school community of a known case

What is a close contact?

A "close contact" is defined as any individual who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes over a 24 hour period before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to positive COVID-19 test) until the time the patient is isolated.
