OUSD Nutrition Services is the recipient of the "Outstanding School Lunch Award"
As of 2007, the State of California implemented new regulations governing food and beverages sold outside the federally reimbursable meal program to students on school campuses. OUSD Nutrition Services implemented these Senate Bills in 2006, one year earlier than required.
These rigorous new standards for food and beverages sold "AlaCarte" (outside the reimbursable meal program) apply to students from Kindergarten though grade twelve. All beverages sold have no added sugar. (Carbonated soft drinks were removed from our AlaCarte menu in July of 2006.) Bottled water is for sale at all school sites.
